The Unsung Verse

He is just like a poem.

I’ll be honest and share what I feel, for once,

Without suppressing my emotions—I’ll say it right here.

He’s more than a verse,

An unsung poem that never had the chance to be sung.

With a smile like sunshine,

He radiates warmth to everyone around him.

His hair, a perfect blend of rough and wavy,

Eyes that dive deep.

A heart so kind, always there,

Ready to offer advice to those in need.

He helps you stand strong on your ground,

To say what you truly need to hear.

He’s like a poem—not just any poem—

For poems come in many forms.

A perfect melody rhymes in my head,

Phrases I can’t seem to express in words.

A personality so rare,

Oh, so dreamy—did you say?

But his thoughts echo her name,

Not mine.

I’m just a poet, a stranger to his heart,

Present before him, yet his gaze is on someone else.

The other girl, they call me;

But I was here first.

Still, he likes her, so I give up,

Letting go with the hope that he finds every smile in this life—

He deserves it.

He’s a stanza,

But I’m not his story.
