The Universe’s Plan- Have Faith In Everyway
By Chanpreet Kaur
School and no friends — sounds familiar?
You were bullied, too, don’t be a liar.
When I look back upon my childhood,
It was not filled with Little Red Riding Hood.
I was a thief no one admired,
But my best friend — my mother — never tired.
I pretended I had friends galore,
But my web of lies grew more and more.
It never hurt — until one day,
My secrets came to haunt my way.
And I could not tell my only friend,
The one who loved me till the end.
One strange day, I met a stranger,
And wished she would be my friend — no anger.
I did not know of spells or fate,
Yet prayed for her, though filled with weight.
I did not give up on hope or grace,
Nor dream she would smile upon my face.
But when I saw her tears that day,
I knew my heart would find its way.
Each day I tried to reach her soul,
Through school, through tuitions — that was my goal.
And just as I was losing faith,
She called my name — I turned in haste.
I rushed to the Gurudwara, still,
My heart rejoiced; my prayers were fulfilled.
Slowly, softly, we grew close,
Our bond became the one I chose.
She said, “Let’s bunk the class today.”
I laughed and said, “Come home, okay?”
Her friends were shocked — “Your mother will scold!”
But fate had plans already told.
My mother cried with joy that day,
As laughter danced the hours away.
We talked for long, with warm aloo parathas shared,
The love I felt was beyond compare.
That day I knew, so pure, so blended,
She would be my first true female friend.
I prayed each night, and every day,
The universe heard me — in its way.
Through all her storms, I chose to stay,
Smiling, even when skies turned Gray.
They said, “You girls are inseparable!”
Those years made school unforgettable.
Twelve years have passed — we are still the same,
A friendship born from faith’s small flame.
Now I just pray she is happy, free,
No trace of envy lives in me.
So, keep your faith, come what may,
The universe loves — in its own way.
