The Unbearable Weight

This unbearable weight is crushing me.

This stifling life is choking the air in my lungs.

These smothering pairs of hands, holding a pen, writing away.

These tasteless morsels of food energized me, only to be crushed again.


Subjects, assignments, projects and grades

An endless prison,

Blocking out the sweet light

At the end of the tunnel


But at times,

Some are drawn to the light.

Its beauty speaks to them,

of the better days to come.


But at times,

Some make love to the darkness.

And wish to never leave its savagely comforting embrace.

And they are never, ever seen again.
