The table

At a lavish table,

There sits a woman bound by a cable.

As a girl,

She had a mind that would whirl.

Such promise of a fearsome force,

But they sought to enforce.

Dictators using jagged saws-

Into her bones- they drilled their claws.

With each yank toward their way,

The rope ripped her skin as easy as clay.

Eyes so wide with light,

Faded into fathomless white.

Then, disgusted were they by her pall,

So painted was she, until she was a pretty doll.

Upwards, her shoulders jerk,

And against her lame jaw, they crack.

At the table, her head is unsheathed,

To uncover a carved smile with rotting teeth.
