The Summers of Life

Warm sunlight glistening the water,

dangling feet over the stream,

sounds of laughter filling to the bream-

as the children splash and spill.

Running holding coloured pinwheels,

The wind grinning like a Cheshire cat-

Swaying its leaves like an acrobat.

Peeping through the world’s lenses,

colours filling in like-

Kaleidoscope benches.

Hopping

                     through

                                         the

                                                    ‘scotch’s

                                                                          boxes,

Cackling down at flopping bounces.

With hearts as pure as the circle-

intentions as mischievous as the grinch.

They revolt against sleeping-

only to fall asleep at the moon’s glimpse.

The days so simple, so joyous-

enough to make the stars jealous.
