The Stranger I Already Miss

He kept me waiting for a decade or more;

He’s the reason I turned down many before.

Crushed every rose, crumbled every heart,

With a wish to cherish just one from the start.

They called me crazy — and maybe I am,

Still trusting fate, not giving a damn.

Even when surrounded by people I adore,

Loved and cared for — I couldn’t ask for more.

No doubt, I’m lucky to have them all,

Yet there’s a quiet void that stands tall;

Perhaps it’s a space your bliss could fill —

A promise my heart is holding still.

He lives in my softest, wordless prayer,

In hidden poems I dare not share:

A stranger who feels like comfort and grace,

Though I’ve never seen his form or face.

I wonder when our paths will align,

I wonder how I’ll recognize the sign

That you are the one, revealed by time,

Promised to me beyond reason and rhyme.

Every tale of a hero and heroine,

Every novel of a princess and prince,

Every couple lost in love so true —

Stirs a longing deep inside for you.

It sparks an ache I can’t dismiss,

To taste that strange, sweet thing called bliss.

Though my eyes have never met your gaze,

Though my ears have never heard your name,

Though my skin has never felt your embrace,

Still, my heart effortlessly senses your grace;

Without a cause, a sign, or a single guess...

I admit it — you’re the stranger I already miss.
