The Stone Bridge

A cloudy, cold day. As the chill seeps through my coat, I sit with closed eyes on an enduring English bridge. It is built from individually laid rocks, centuries old. Weathered and moss-covered, they are coarse and damp. They smell of wet earth, breathing silence into the fresh air on my face. Underneath, the stream murmurs a song filled with stories from primeval paths. Clear ripples wrap around the cobbles, the flowing never stops. In the rhythmic hum of the sound, the river and the bridge become one. Soft, colourful noises appear. The future is just loud enough to be heard by this unyielding granite, vibrating in the narrow space between the stone arches and the water.

An age-worn cold bridge,

Striking a colourful chord

Over damp green moss.
