ACT I

Setting: A beautifully decorated open lawn bathed in the golden light of the evening sun. A gentle breeze blows, bringing whispers and laughter. A stage is set up at the far end.

NARRATOROn a pleasant evening, when the sun kisses the sky and hides shyly, a crowd gathers. Dressed in salt and pepper, they illuminate the night with luminous brightness. Many lips begin to whisper as the couple enters, hand in hand, spellbinding all who see them.

SCALE(Admiringly) What a lovely couple.

PENCIL(Smiling) I’m so happy for them.

ERASER(Wisely) I wish them to design their life intricately by erasing each other’s mistakes.

NARRATORScale, being the measure of everything, invites the eldest couple to bless the newlyweds.

(Enter HIGHLIGHTER and WHITENER, glowing with grace.)

HIGHLIGHTER & WHITENER(In unison) We bless you both to highlight each other’s strengths and gently blur your weaknesses.

NARRATORRock, the bride's father, takes a strong and grounded step forward, gently guiding the couple to the stage. The moment has arrived. The couple stitched their souls with a stapler as they offered each other their hearts.

PAPER(Bowing slightly and sincerely) I bow to you to snip me into a beautiful art. Will you be my better half, dear love?

SCISSOR(With slight shyness and sparkling eyes) Indeed, yes!

(She lends him her bladed fingers. The ring fits her perfectly. A hush falls, broken only by the gentle clink of glasses and there happens the crafty wedding.)

NARRATORAs the champagne fizzes and the crowd cheers, happy tears roll down Rock’s cheeks. The moment is sealed. The world now knows...

ALL (OFFSTAGE)They are husband and wife!
