The Star

By Abhi Gupta

I’ve always been a collector of shiny things,

Which is how I found you.

A star so bright,

That you outshine my blue.

But stars burn out, they fade with time,

And now I’m left with just the climb.

I’ve chased the light, so fleeting, so rare,

Yet in your glow, I felt despair.

For stars belong to the endless skies,

And I’m bound to earth, where hope just lies.

Would you let me hold your glow,

Or must I watch you fall below?

A collector I am, of things that gleam,

But you were the star that woke my dream.
