THE SEA AND THE ROCK

Through the long, sleepless nights

I toss and turn, in a dazed maze

why am I so restless?

questions seem to be too many

the answers all within me!

I only wish he knew it too …

Or, does he?

Is he pretending to be silent?

so stern, stubbornly stubborn

never a smile, on his handsome face!

Some days, I feel calm, serene

assured that he is with me

I can see, feel and touch him

Oh, the bliss I know when I hug him

makes me rushing to him evermore!

At times, I feel furious, unloved, uncared.

I rush to him from the other end

wanting to destroy everything my way

I beat against him with such force

as though I possess, the..

vengeant power to devour him!

Did he even budge? Nay!

He watches me ever so silently

as my fury subsides slowly.

I wish I could take him with me

to drown him with my love

to let him know how much I need him

that I hate to be parted from him.

Does he know that it is I, none other –

who does wonders to his existence?

That it is I, who soothes his rough patches

and his rugged edges?

Yet the bitter truth awaits me -

that this is how the Creator designed us..

Still, I turn, to Him, and ask –

“Why have You not made us a woman and man?

Why, oh why, have You created us,

as the passionate sea and the solid rock?”
