The Sea and I

Yesterday, I moved into my new house

And the floor length windows draw my eyes

To a vivid blue and green, hidden in plain sight.

Curious, I let my gaze wander

And catch the sea spying on me

Through stacks of steel and glass

Sprawled across in a concrete jungle.

I wave, she nods back

And we go our separate ways

The sea and I.

One lazy morning, I woke up and spot her shy

Sky looms above her, pink etches him high

I can't fathom where she begins or where he ends. image1790497097976.png

Lithely, they dance (chase)

Towards the horizon, they fly

And yield themselves to soaring heights.

Intruder, as I was, in their intimate life

Curtains I draw, blushing tip to toe.

Weeks blur past and we rarely greet

Immersed in our chores, the sea and I

Ignore each other until our routines meet/align.

It's four on the clock, we catch our breaths

Steaming cup of coffee in front us

Seeking comfort from the gentle breeze

We lull our minds, in silence we speak.

I talk about missing the Sun

And she rambles about the cold and grey. image1790497097988.png

I prattle about my other home

She muses about her long lost bae

And thus,

Testing waters, we both cautiously embrace

A newfound friendship, we unknowingly celebrate.

I would've been having happy days, when

Storm clouds would bring out her turbulent rage.

She would be shining brilliant blue, when I was constantly battling the blues.

Or maybe we both would be holding our grounds,

when all we wanted was the calm.

No matter what our moods, absolute favour was always implied.

I embody her calm, her fury

And she personifies my love, my glory

For you see we are feminine creatures divine
