The Rose And The Dew Drop
By Ruvena Sanyal
Deep in the heart
of a rose so red
Lay a tiny dewdrop
on its fragrant bed.
Every evening, as dusk crept in
She'd trickle her way
across his dusky red skin,
To find her place
deep in his golden core,
And lie there, enveloped,
So safe, so secure.
As the moon drifts sleepily on her bed in the clouds, He'd love her And worship her And make her his own. "You are the reason I wait up each night My friend, my sweet soulmate My solace, my starlight.” “Don't leave me, I need you, don't go." Rose sighed. “I cannot linger, my love,” The dewdrop replied. “You know I'll come back when the sun dips low, when the moonbeams are dancing when the stars are aglow ... I'll lie in your heart till dawn stains the sky.. then vanish I must, wave a misty goodbye. For dewdrops and roses are not meant to be together forever, So nature decrees. Soulmates we are but I must fade away, Separated, but briefly, In your essence I'll stay.
