The River
By Afrin Rahaman
I donot remember my exact origin.
As far as I can remember,
Through the land of snow,
I emerged and flowed in a small stream.
I see the butterflies fly.
I see the flowers blossom.
Through the green bushy woods,
I dream to reach the clouds high!
As I descend down the hills,
I flow through the plateau plain.
I find the jolly tea estate girls,
Whose screams, the night air fills.
I think the hills are backward.
It is a stinky place to stay.
May be I can help when I am wider.
For now, let me progress ahead.
Then comes the never ending plains.
I flow through the paddy fields.
I flourish and provide them.
Yet there are dry lands in pain!
I find the fish playing,
The bull, the zebra enjoying a drink.
Should I flood over the lion
Eagerly waiting for a catch, watching?
I need to get wider to do that.
Got to get to the sea.
Now, I should quietly pass over,
Lest! I am dried by the heat!
Finally I have reached my destiny!
Finally, wide enough at the sea!
But thus salt water irritating, killing me.
Oh my God! I have lost my identity!
Well that was the whole story told.
What? You question how well did I serve?
Well its none of my fault,
If you find here your growth curve!
