The Return to Shadows

No matter how far I flee or how fiercely I soar,

I’m drawn to a place that’s mine no more.

"Home" is now a hollow shell,

Walls whisper secrets I cannot tell.

I’ve burned through skies, wandered wide lands,

But the truth grips tightly, like shackled hands.

I can’t outrun what lives within—

A stranger’s face where love had been.

Each step breaks me, piece by piece;

Memories linger, yet peace won’t cease.

I walk through shadows, past dreams turned gray—

You’re here, yet gone, in your own way.

And still, I pray with trembling breath:

Let these eyes hold strength till death,

To glimpse once more the you I knew,

Even as I mourn what I’ve lost in you.
