I used to think so much of love

Of chocolates, hearts and flying doves

“You be mine and I’ll be yours”

Letters, dances, picnicking outdoors

Professing my undying love under the pouring rain

Of telling you how loving you would slowly drive me insane

’Cause darling all those Hallmark movies couldn’t be in vain

A time before I thought of love with all the broken glass

Before I knew that passionate hearts burnt down to ash, once loving came to pass

There was a time for me, when I daydreamed of loving free and knew so little of the word I knew for certain love was me.

I thought myself a fantasy; I’d be so good at loving, they would see. The picture perfect partner would be me, and love would set me free

When love was still ahead, it’s cherry red innocent in my head,

I was so sure love would be me.

Could love be blue? This subtle hue of bygone ecstasy?

I’m getting used to feeling love in yesterdays and longing eulogies.
