The Plight of Seth

Legends tell of a man named Seth

Life’s romantic lover, a coward before threat

He asked a boon to the Gods he met

And so became the man who knew no death

Immune he was to the slow poison of time

To him death could do no crime

He enjoyed life like it was his prime

A life filled with joy and rhyme

But soon came wisdom knocking at the door

A dictionary dense did it throw on the floor

The definition of life was hidden at its core

Without death, life meant no more

Seth realised when he was bored and free

A time passed, a new future did he see

Still death and the devil governed with glee

Suffering saw no end and neither did he

He stood in penance for many a year

A final plea for the Gods to hear

To hold a sword that even immortals fear

When left unheard, on his face came a tear

To the souls afraid of the afterlife flight

Let this message come before you as light

Better is the blade of death’s merciful scythe

Than to share Seth’s pitiful plight.
