Do you remember the betrayals you sowed,
Dampening me in disdain, left to decay.
Days thereafter filtered in red,
Counting down to the end of myself.
A breath away from giving up on this life,
A plague of anguish grew dense and dark.
From the crevices of pain, drenched in spite,
Remember, you birthed the nemesis in me.
I word all these as if it were yesterday,
But, Lord, it doesn’t go away.
The years of loathing and revolt
Have left my heart bleeding black.
I attend to myself to heal and grow
And attempt to strip the feeling from facts.
Finding a cure for the plague that set ablaze,
And to bury the hurt with flowers of love.
