The Other Side

Body jailed up, handcuffed in a dark safety vault

Heads lurking out of the window

Dreamy eyes projecting the most scenic view

Mesmerised heart smiled, look it’s the other side

Parallel universe, cheers the trophy’s won

Power moves, wishes came true

Diamond in the rough, finally shines bright

I see her crystal clear, dancing with her lover

Building home, passing life’s test with flying colours

Her eyes met mine, she sends an invite

Come cross the bridge, join me to the new world

Your happily ever after has been waiting for a long time

To solve the puzzle, is to open the never unlocked portal

But what if the dragon awaits the door

Tears me apart, what if I upset the heavenly god

Some force curses me cause I didn’t pray enough

What if the weathers bad, the fragile bridge may collapse

Watch your step, might fall, and drown into the haunting dark ocean waves

Slow motion, crippling anxiety got my feet tangled,

I lose my breath, what if I sacrifice myself,

Worst came worst, what if the endpoint is just mirage to my thirsty eyes

Proving myself right will switch to everyone was right,

Peasant claiming, she was a queen, small birdie desires the wings of a falcon,

Deep breathes, the angel on the shoulder taps

Heard the devil talk? care to hear me out?

Fireflies glow in the dark, darkness dies in the light

In the court room of how universe decides miracles,

Theres a written law, after every night there is a sunrise,

If not the moon, you’ll land on the stars.

SUMMARY:

This poem is about one’s aspirations, career path, dream life. Often, we hear from people around us to rather choose a safe career option, then jumping into uncertainties. Forcing us to jailed up in safety vault forever. From the safety vault through the window, on the other side we visualise our dream life clearly but breaking free from it, taking risks, and following our callings comes with its own anxieties.
