The One That Got Away

By Karthik Govind

The light that shines through the crevices of all the ill-starred decisions blinded me.

To think I didn't see you were a curse in my heart.

Oh to see a sight other than you, draped with the fingers of eternity that glides smoothly.

To be held with that hands to cry a million rivers.

The crust that I hear across some miles where you threw away that heart when I asked for it rings in my ears.

The beauty in your hair wishing I could strangle upon it.

I ended the life I would have for the life I could have.

I danced on the pyre of my dreams to chase the one with screams.

I travelled along your veins to find myself, but found the answers.

You made hundred promises to leave never one to stay.
