The Night

By Keya Gupta

When the sun gives up its spot,

Arrives the phase, I no longer await;

My sense of self doubt fills the lot,

That before was occupied with faith.

The poets see in the night beauty

And in the moon the lovely spots,

But to me, night is the anxiety;

When I am left alone with my thoughts

All my nights sleepless pass by,

Maybe because my mind can't stop.

My thoughts make my heart beat so high,

Wish peace could be bought.

Have I done enough?, why am i not perfect?

Are the feelings that always prevail,

And is there still a monster under my bed

In my subconscious this always remains.

Wish I could just sleep,

Instead I just lay by myself.

Hoping one day I won't have to weep

Myself to sleep, and just live peacefully.
