The narcissist

Been gaslit so badly that you believed you were the bad guy

all his immature actions, indifference and selfish behaviors made you cry

faked a personality he knew you would adore

one down for his abuser score

I guess his daddy issues got in the way

made his emotional maturity stop only quarter way

hiding behind his intelligence and ego does the talk

because if you take that away, he is a molting hawk

Wrapping you around his pinky with pretty lies

broken promises, commitments, “until he dies”

gave just enough to not let you off the hook

oh, he made sure of that by hook or by crook

The signs were clearly there

those famous red flags hanging everywhere

but I guess the desire to be understood

did more than they should

You forgave far more than he deserved

but it wasn’t enough for little Mr. conserved

slaughtered his next victim, thinking he’d won

not knowing his downward spiral had only begun

Because no amount of money or intellectual attainment

can fix the rotten holes inside your soul - unresolved resentment

you are the problem - displaced frustration on somebody else

you can’t cope - emotional dumbbells.
