The mountain climbed

They say dont cling to the past ,look forward not back ,and for your everyday drive on the highway of life that is solid advice .

However you are so focused on the mountain peak you still you have to climb

So stuck on beating yourself with your walking stick for every trip and slip

That you fail to so the height above sea level you have already reached.

So once in a while take a breath ,

pull over and look back at all

the hills that you have overcome,

the progress you have made,

the wounds you have healed

and lessons you have learned .

Don't dwell,analyze or overthink just see

The work you have done

The person you become

the bad ,the sad

but also the good the kind

Ignore the lies of snakes that hiss

only aiming to maim your soul.

Don't let their strikes hit your skin

Do hear the words people say that ring like the songs of birds in the open air

those that say you are

valued ,loved and wanted even if hearing them makes you want to cover your ears because it's hard to hear due to your own fears.

Hear the hard words as well

the hadeda cry loud telling you

the things you need to work on too

don't be angry ,

don't chase it away

weave into the tapestry of you

For all these things have made you who you are

That person right there

whose progress is so much ..

They are mostly worthy of your love .
