The Morgue

There is this place close to hostel I stay

Built attractive and beautiful in its way

In its lane every day when I pass by

I let out a heavy breath of sigh

It is the place where in their lifetime

No one would ever want to be

Or once out of curiosity

Its inside they would like to see

It is the place that has never once seen

Someone come with a smile

Nor has it ever felt a moment

Filled with warmth for a while

All it has seen is faces with streams of tear

Withering hopes and loads of fear

Of uncertainty and future so unclear

Without the one who had once been their dear

It is the place where ‘the gone’ lay forever cold and still

In a temperature that would make your spine chill

In a company of similar others who can neither react nor emote

As their souls too have left them to the land that is remote
