The Misunderstood Daughter

By Ragi Mishra

All She wanted was a moment,

a tiny spark of light in a long dark road.

A small win, a piece of paper that whispered,

“You did good.”

She ran to her,

and saw pride bloom in her eyes,

soft, warm, and safe.

But when the words reached him,

the man she always tried to reach,

left her joy beyond his speech.

They don’t see the storms she fights every day

just to prove she is not worthless,

that she’s still worth believing in.

He doesn’t see that she is breathing for him,

for the man who gave up his dreams

She is not asking for gold,

or applause, or endless praise.

Just trust.

Just a little peace.

To be understood instead of controlled,

to be seen as someone trying,

not failing.

Is that too much to want?

Maybe it is for them.

But She’ll keep trying,

not because they doubt her,

but because she still believes

that one day, they’ll see her

and finally say,

“She made it.”
