The Misery of Failure

As I sat, drowning in my failure’s misery,

I searched for comfort in my mind’s monastery

Where I was a monk, who vowed to never fail his soil,

As a seed sown twenty years ago with much toil.

My soil never spoke nor batted an eye

On my deeds or results, no smile no sigh.

But I, the seed, struck with grief, went on

Punishing myself for the victories gone...
