The Man in The Room

The man in the room sits in a chair by the window

Looking at the Apple blooms.

He wears gabardine sails that flutter dead from his waist,

Bunched up around his gnarly knees,

]And his eyes dart to his boots

In dreams of soil and cider.

The man in the room holds his deities well in his stubborn heart.

He drinks with them in the dark and

Sings their glories in the sun.

The man in the room is full of love,

And he grows older each day in love, until it kills him well,

Until he is the flowers some day,

The cider, and the soil.
