The Man

There once existed a man

Who thought he knew it all

And well, he mostly did.

He knew people

And why they were who they were

He knew feelings

And why they grew when they did

He thought he knew it all, but not quite.

Suffering and heartbreak were his neighbors,

He saw them whether he wanted to or not.

But it wasn’t as if he couldn’t avoid them by staying indoors

And yet the man ventured out

Day in and day out

He loved fiercely

Felt deeply

Hated passionately

And bared it all openly

So what happens to such men anyway?

Are they hiding?

Or are they everywhere?

Is it someone you know?

Is it you?
