The Malady

By Paarth Gupta

Walls have ears but they wish they had mouths. That’s why I asked my attorney, Paarth, to put forth my case.

Hi I’m Mr. Wall. It all started in the winter season. Even on a chilly winter day, I was itching to drink water. Unable to contain my thirst, I drank like a thirsty crow (The water seeped into me) and I didn’t realize how it infected me. The case was life threatening.

It was slowly, sucking out each and every fibre of my being. I started to show symptoms and looked extremely pale. My skin was cracking and discoloration was at its peak. My owners were worried sick and brought all sorts of medicines for me. However, none seemed to work.

I clearly needed a walliatrician. The disease was spreading all over my body. I couldn’t escape the clutches of Apollo. The disease was like a dementor sucking out my very life force. Soon, I was on my deathbed, when the walliatrician finally arrived.

He physically examined me and diagnosed me with Seepage 19. He advised an immediate surgery. Nonetheless, I didn’t have a say in the matter and my fate lay in the hands of the doctor. The operation was to take place at my current location. The doctor needed assistance and called for a mason. Thus began the operation.

A sander and a scraper were used to kill the infection. The surgery lasted for a long time, but to my dismay, it was unsuccessful. The finest plaster of Paris was used for the treatment, but it failed. The surgery reduced my pain, but didn’t remove the infection completely.

There was a second consultation, and another doctor paid me a visit. He advised complete wall rest and Vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency would be made up, by light and warmth from a heater. It would take seasons for me to heal, but I was willing to wait. For I knew, the wait would be worth it.

Finally, the bliss of summers arrived. I could hear commoners complain about the hot weather, but not me. I was grateful to summers, it would help me recover and recuperate. I started to dry and showed signs of improvement. All I needed now was another surgery to give me back my looks. This time, the surgery was a hit; it helped me get back my shiny coat.

The lesson I learnt from this episode was not to indulge in overeating. It makes you swell like a balloon. Now that I have spoken, I let my case rest in peace.
