The Love Beneath

His presence reeked of a decaying corpse.

His gaze told a thousand untold words.

His words lingered with deception.

His touch felt colder than icicles.

His heart screamed with pain.

His face looked like a carefully crafted bouquet of poison ivy.

His hair was darker than his heart.

His looks can pierce right through the toughest diamonds.

He was a man filled with mysteries,

I ought to get curious.

I won't call myself naïve,

I knew the stakes.

He looked at me with such deceitful doe eyes,

He spoke of sugar coated praise.

Such pretty lies.

I danced with the devil,

Tasted the sweetest of poisons.

I took the dagger straight to my heart,

Bled my love out to him, to no avail.

I knew his lies,

I knew his eyes.

Now I share his deadly curse,

But there's no trace of him left.

He now only exists in my memory.

It takes two to tango,

Don't condemn me,

I've always been treacherous.

It was the best of times,

It was the worst of times.

In the end,

I made it out barely alive.
