The Lonely Bench

We sat together

On the lonely bench on the hill

Gazing at the stars

The stars that seemed

Like pearls in the dark

Depths of the ocean.

We talked all night

With no words spoken

But we shared our

Sorrows and satisfactions

Fears and feats

Out on the lonely bench

Where we sat together.

In the most silent of nights

We heard each other’s cry

Listened to each other’s prayers

And touched each other’s hearts.

Far apart

On the lonely bench where

We sat together.
