The Loneliest Prince
By Malavika Rudrakumar
In a hidden corner of the universe,
There lived a curious little prince,
With golden curls,
A labyrinth of his intricate thoughts,
Ideals of a wanderer of the celestial unknown,
With piercing blue eyes,
As deep as the waters he swam,
That only a lucky few had taken to notice,
But those who met him spoke of that green clad lad
Embodying maturity and intelligence.
Bright-eyed and bushy tailed was he,
But even his loveable laugh,
An entanglement of regret, loss,
Tenderness, an attachment,
A love; gone, but not forgotten,
For his heart he had left,
With a rose he adored so,
Forced to abandon,
Lest he lose himself.
To the world his answered he refused,
Enthralling anecdotes were shared nonetheless,
Of unseen circumstances,
No rendezvous, rather adventures,
That built a foundation,
To contemplate life's fortunes.
Alas, the little boy,
Succumbed to a friendly bite,
Venom of truth and despair and longing,
Left only with thoughts of his unique flower,
That held his heart strings,
That he left protected,
In a glass globe of untimely love.
