The Lone Standing Tree

By Dr. Harvinder Jeet Kour

I am the lone standing tree,

In the middle of a vast dusty field,

Surviving the wrath of nature,

With countless secrets concealed .

A hundred of storms hit me,

And tore my branches apart,

Nevertheless I'm standing here,

With my broken scarred heart.

For I have faith,

I'm here for a reason,

That surely gives worth,

To the wrath of every season.

For I'm hope to the birds,

Who rest in my bleeding branches,

They sing here love songs,

And twirl in romantic dances.

For I'm hope to travellers,

Who would pass this way,

I would be their hope,

On a bright sunny day.

Torn by pain, healed by faith,

Scarred, strong, wild and free,

In the middle of a vast dusty field,

I'm the Lone standing tree.
