Liliana's work resonates with audiences, reminding us of the importance of every voice, no matter how small it may seem.

About the Work

"The Little Violin" captivates with its poignant imagery and heartfelt message. Through the metaphor of an orchestra, Liliana beautifully illustrates the significance of each instrument, each voice, and each individual. The poem's emotive tone and vivid scenes of an orchestra missing its violin emphasize the importance of belonging and purpose, creating a symphony of unity and compassion.

The Little Violin

Liliana Walker

"I'm not important."

said the little violin.

"There's others just like me...

They wouldn't miss me."

But when she didn't show up...

The Clarinets couldn't sing.

The Flutes couldn't breathe.

The Trumpets couldn't talk.

The Horns couldn't see.

The Violins lost their sister.

The Violas lost their mother.

The Cellos lost their friend.

The Basses lost their love.

The Harp wouldn't find her positioning.

The Sax refused to laugh.

The Drums couldn't find the beat.

And the Piano couldn't play his notes...

But that little Violin,

she was sitting in the audience.

And when she heard the sad musicale,

she looked at her strings

and weeped.

But when the little Violin cried,

her older sisters did too....

and so did the rest of the orchestra.

Because their little friend had come home.

So she took up her place,

while the orchestra welcomed her...

But to the audience, they were moved,

as they heard the most beautiful piece.

And the conductor was not mad.

No, he smiled and whispered:

"Now you see, my child...

we needed you to play out the melody."

"Because, my little one–

you may feel you are small

or insignificant, but you are not.

They all needed you. I needed you.

You are an instrument in my hands.

and I need you, because I love you,

so I can play your tune...

So you may better understand your purpose."

The conductor felt sympathy and compassion,

on his ensemble, on the Violin.

And that is why, my dear,

we call it a "symphony".
