The Library

As I was walking back home,

I saw a library simple but somehow captivating

And mysterious.

Naturally, I walked in.

And I was shell-shocked!

But I was wrong.

It was grandiose, huge and elegant

The inside completely different from the front gates

With roses and orchids

And candles and parchment.

As I walked through all the sections, I realized

That it was someone’s life, each day a book,

And the library was forever long,

But hey, I love reading.

I walked through all the sections,

Brightly lit, decorated and perfumed.

Until I reached one where the books were thrown open all over the place,

Stains of tears trailing through its pages,

And the air hung around with an aura of regret and fear.

The place wasn't decorated nor perfumed,

It looked neglected for ages.

I went in and took the first book I encountered,

And I read through a few books so

Now it contained my tears too

For this is the best story of unrequited love,

The saddest and no-adjective-was-made-to-describe-this-feeling book ever.

Little did I realize that I was inside my heart,

The library of my life,

That contained my memories,

The pain, heartache,

And success and affection

Just simply everything!
