Dear “Future Me,”

I hope you’ve grown into the person I dream to be, Strong as the mountains, flowing like a fearless river. Right now, it feels like the world doesn’t always see me, Like my voice is a ripple lost in a rushing current.

Some days, the storm in my mind is louder than my courage, Whirlpools of doubt hot hard against my spirit, trying to pull me under. Whispers of unkind words linger like the murkiness in deep waters, But they don’t define me, I won’t let them.

I am learning to move forward and flow ahead,

To carve my own path like a river moving through different terrains. I have a heart and mind wide open,

Gentle hands and words that heal, even when I’m hurting. I’ve learned to see magic in small things:

The wag of my dog’s tail, the trust in their eyes, Laughter around the dinner table,

The warmth of family hugs, my safe haven. Sometimes, I’m terrified.

Terrified that I’ll be an invisible spec in a world so massive, But I then I say to myself, I am infinite.

Infinite like the relentless flow of a river,

Ceaseless like the dreams that wander within me.

Every setback is a story waiting to be told, and every tale shapes my journey. I want to be the boy who always get back up,

The one who has the faith to turn murmurs into roars.

The world might try to box me, but like a river I can’t be contained.

Future Me, I hope you’ve learned to gleam like the bright rays of sun as they fall on water, To embrace what you see and adore the reflection you see in the river.

May gratitude be your legacy and relentless flow and growth be your superpower, And may you always remember where “your river” commenced.

With love and optimism, From the young man who is learning to evolve.
