The Last Sigh

My life is a long journey

on a winding road

which meanders

through hills of fortune and fame

and dales of anguish and pain,

taking me from the womb

to the tomb.

My physical garment

is now tattered

by the ravages of time

and finally wrenched away from me;

time appears to stand still,

in that eternal moment

when the eyes close forever.

The inner effulgence

goes back to its divine source,

the tattered garment

returns to its physical source.

Another long journey begins

as I traverse amongst

the twinkling stars,

from the tomb

to a new womb.

Life is an unending game,

where our souls are draped

with the five coloured elements

and passed from

weaver to dyer

to fulfill our karmas

and enact the roles

we have to play,

from the first cry

to the last sigh.
