The Kitten
By Ranjana Gorakhnath Tidke
Our little white kitty
Is so wickedly witty
Seeks attention, gracefully gritty
So ruthless, shows no pity
Every tiny passing pest
For her is a quivering quest
She will chase it, catch it, grab it
But rarely will she kill it
Basking in the window sill
Sometimes rolling, sometimes still
Plotting plans to pounce
The branches where the birds bounce
Spotlessly spick and span
Hide and seek her favourite prank
If anything has slightly stirred
She is at once keenly alert
Little more than two pounds
Fearless to provoke the honest hound
Eyes are like amber stone
Predator who hunts alone
Follows her own rules
Not a dog please excuse
Sharp nails in her claws
A bundle of fur in my house
