TITLE:

THE HUNGRY STORM

“Goodbye!,” I chimed as my parents left the house, leaving my sister and I home alone.I giggled with jubilation as I thought about all the fun things we could do while I grabbed the television remote, eagerly scrolling for something to watch.

“I’ll make us some popcorn!” exclaimed my sister. As I smelt the popcorn in the microwave,my mouth began to water from the buttery goodness.I was a cosy cat on my couch as I happily watched my favourite show,”Monster High.”My sister and I thought that nothing could ruin this peaceful moment until the lights suddenly turned off.

We screamed as terror consumed our body and souls while hugging each other tightly for life.The wind howled like hungry wolves and tree branches looked like tall,slender arms trying to grab us through the window. As I was finally calming down,thunder roared as if it was trying to swallow me entirely.My sister and I darted under our parents’ bed.The only thought that ran through my head was,”Will we ever survive this night?”

As we were about to let fear consume us alive,an idea bolted to my head.I grabbed my sister's phone and tried to call our parents but there was no connection.My voice was shaky as I gasped” What if the thunder had already eaten them alive?” Just then, we heard the front door opening.

My sister and I took our final breaths,thinking that this would be our final time on earth when suddenly the lights came back on and we heard our mother call out,”Kids, where are you?” We rushed out from under the bed and hugged our parents.”There was a big storm out there.” explained my father.Hope took over the fear coursing through our veins.My sister and I smiled from ear to ear as we weren't eaten alive by the vicious storm monster.This was surely an experience that never happened once in a blue moon but I will surely forget my last breaths.
