The Greatest Showman
By Malavika Rudrakumar
Renowned for his tricks,
Disappearances in an eye flick.
Questionable talents no one could deny,
As hard as one might try.
Doves soaring out of one's hat,
Smoke appearances on the stat,
Manoeuvres of the amateurish,
No match for his wand swish.
For no novice was he,
To his performances people did flee,
A connoisseur of the impossible,
Believe what you see; inevitable.
"The future is bleak!", he announced,
Leaving them confound.
"Didn't you hear the ominous calling?"
"The sky is falling!"
Ludicrous was the common notion,
Unbeknownst, things were already in motion.
Post-haste, Blue snow enveloped all in sight.
Hysterical laughter follower the order, "hold on tight!"
Bewildered, the audience expected the worst.
A magic contrivance big enough to match his thirst.
Dreading their lives, a rebellion ensued.
"Observe my friends, no need to feud."
Illusion is the imposter's reality,
"Get a hold of your sanity!",
He exclaimed with a grin,
Indeed, the sky was no longer tearing thin.
Truly, the human brain is so frail,
Perplexed stares followed his trail,
But turning around they saw no one standing tall,
He was the greatest showman, after all.
