The Golden Reign of Autumn

By Arvind Dewangan

Let us bid farewell to the rains,

And welcome autumn as it reigns.

The earth, content in verdant hue,

Awaits adornment fresh and new.

The fertile soil, with harvest near,

Roots and tubers now appear.

Trees long to bloom with flowers bright,

Their leaves caressed by nectar’s light.

The flowing rivers gleam and shine,

Silver waves in beauty fine.

Let us bid farewell to the rains,

And welcome autumn as it reigns.

The tender shoots in fields of green,

Seek the sunlight’s golden sheen.

Grains will ripen, rich with worth,

Milk-fed bounty of the earth.

The weary streams now pause their song,

Rain’s corrections end so long.

Let us bid farewell to the rains,

And welcome autumn as it reigns.

The monsoon slows its hurried pace,

With lowered head, a timid grace.

It drapes itself in veils of mist,

And leaves with joy, by sunlight kissed.

The gentle rays of morning fair,

Wash the earth with tender care.

Let us bid farewell to the rains,

And welcome autumn as it reigns.
