The Giant

By Mary Lou O'Keefe

She is small in stature, but a Giant in spirit.

She is curvy and petite but humble, not vain.

Signs of aging are showing in her face and in her hair.

The silver strands throughout her brown hair are prominent, but she wears them with pride.

She faces her days without hesitation, come what may.

A line deepened across her brown from overthinking.

Lines around her mouth have deepened from laughing and smiling.

She has a captivating smile that always reaches her eyes.

The lines at the corners of her eyes have deepened,

But when you explore the depth of those golden-brown eyes, those lines disappear.

You can get lost in her eyes.

They are a portal.

 To her heart.

 To her pain.

 To her soul.

In her eyes you see her intelligence.

 Her vulnerability.

 Her strength and courage.

 Her spirit.

She is small in stature, but her spirit makes her a Giant.

She is many things to many people.

She loses herself to their expectations but is finding her way to herself.

Every day she finds her joy.

Hones her strength.

Gathers her courage.

If she falls, she gets back up.

Every day is a new day

A clean slate.

A fresh start.

She is small in stature, but has the spirit of a Giant
