The First Star of the Evening

Before the sky is dark enough

for all the stars to show,

one little light appears above,

the first to start the glow.

Perhaps it doesn't mind the night,

or being there alone.

It simply shines a little first

before the rest are known.

And maybe I should be like that-

not waiting to belong,

but learning that it's perfectly fine

to shine before the dawn.
