The Final Mercy

They say predators and prey reside here to maintain a balance,

Cause God is everywhere and nowhere at once.

But they hardly believe in god, let alone humanity,

So they become a monster, stripped away from any integrity.

I believed it all, that monsters are few in number,

They strike a few places, as infrequent as thunder.

Till the day I was swept into the same fate as the rest,

And I became another incident that was put to test.

I scream for help in the face of death,

To bury me alive in an unknown depth.

For death was more merciful than a man

To whom I was nothing more than a nightstand.

So I was promised a warm embrace at the last

Which was thankfully colder than a man's scorching touch.

Death looked at me sympathetically

And embraced my shattered form, ending me and my melancholy.
