The Fallen Star

By Nayana Gowda

I know that we are over,

But why is it that I still cower;

Every single time I hear your name,

Why does my heart get so difficult to tame.

Purple covered up with white,

No! I was never so quiet;

Silent nights are now filled with terrors,

You being the monster with your broken errors;

I was never so demure or naive,

For I was once full of light and brave;

My stories were tampered,

you made sure my screams were never  heard;

One turned into ten,

Ten into hundred;

Now there's nothing left for me,

Except hopelessness and dread;

Dear universe!

I hope you are listening to me well,

I want this man to dwell;

Every hit, every bruise and every single swell;
