The Duality of Emotions

When you strip away the names,
Joy and sorrow are just the body’s way of breaking open
Laughing and crying are not opposites. They are echoes, two colors from the same flame.
They rise from that tight place in the chest where words can't reach. When something touches you so deeply, the body forgets how to pretend.
Your throat catches
Your breath stutters
Your eyes well up
And whether it spills out as laughter
Or collapses as tears
The truth is…
You're feeling
All at once
Too much to hold in
Too much to hide.
And so your body has only one language for that.
Release
Sometimes you laugh until you cry
Sometimes you cry until you laugh
And in both
Your heart says:
“I’m alive ”“I’m overwhelmed”“ Something in me is too big for silence”“ Let me feel it”
“Let me breathe”
