The Dragon

I remember hopping up and down

Going to school at break of dawn

Getting back at last light to the nest

Running along the paths of dust

Climbing hills ofbooks and notes

Gulping down all those hated quotes

And when the clock strikes at nine

My face and eyes had a shine

As my grandpa opened his book

I knew there is nowhere to look

Lions, Tigers, Horses and Bears

Came out of book gripping me in fears

Loved them all for I made the call

But there was someone best of all

The mighty Dragon of distant north

Fearing whom no one ever came forth

With fire in it's heart and smoke in nose

Resting on mountain of fire that still blows

Always awake guarding the treasure

That is beyond you can measure

While all slept well I lay awake

Full of thoughts without break

Why would the dragon guard the gold

That he can't use even if rolled?

Time went by, life went by

The boy in me turned a guy

The books got weathered

The quotes were cleared

The animals were gone

To the other end of zone

Came and went lot of things

For we don't know what life brings

But that dragon always found it's place

Kept me awake with scales so glace

Now I lay on the mountain of fire

Struggling with a heart full of fire

With a blurry head full of smoke

From fire of heart that once broke

I guard something valuable than his treasure-

The burning memories I can never measure

With fire in my heart and fate so grime

I will guard her memories till end of time

Now I know why the dragon guard so fierce

As most valuable things often disguise as tears...
