The Door

Two nights ago,

I was slammed pretty hard.

Echoed throughout the city,

like a famous medieval bard.

People cooked stories,

of what happened behind me.

This morning, my owners,

were nowhere to be seen.

Ten years ago,

I was shut with utmost sincerity.

Not to wake my sleeping masters,

oh, the youth showed dexterity.

Twenty years ago,

I was locked, checked and rechecked.

A week long Kashmir LTC,

made sure the security nowhere lacked.

Twenty five years ago,

this little boy stumbled.

Fell to my toes,

"Stupid door", he mumbled.

Thirty years ago,

I was touched by.

Softest little hands,

and many joyous cries.

"This door is too old,

we should get one new"

I wish I'm thrown to the same,

old age home they'd run to.

Tonight,

wish I could protect them there,

for slamming a door again,

no ruthless child can dare.
