The Doll Made Of Glass
By Divyashree Deshpande
There was once a shop
Where one could see
Princess like dolls
That were defined pretty
Dolls for sale! Dolls for sale!
A lady would shout
& all the girls
Would come running about
They'd glance over the shelves
& select themselves a doll
But they would always ignore one
Which was the most beautiful of them all
The doll made of glass
Looked like a statue of ice
But the way she was treated
Wasn’t so nice
While the other dolls
Were beloved & adored
She, on the other hand
was straight up ignored
Each doll would go out of stock
You can’t even imagine how soon
In contrast She
Had occupied space on the shelf for over a blue moon
While the other dolls were wiped day in & out
While she stood still within the cobwebs, covered in dust
To her value! Beauty & worth
Her merciless treatment was unjust
So if you would fear
She'd shatter one fine day
You’d keep your thoughts at bay
& even if it means a pitiful price
You would buy her right away
If today
you could make just a doll feel significant
Then tomorrow you would need no one
To tell you, you are truly magnificent
