The Divine Tree Of Adyar

By Dr Aqib K Shaick

The Goddess of fortune, of prosperity

Took birth on earth as Muthu Lakshmi

Sow a seed in the land of Adyar,

Seed of compassion to sufferers of cancer.

Brought up and watered it with her own

Blood and sweat. God of up keep

Accorded to bolster it, took up

Another incarnation of Krishna as her son.

An Angel of "peace" was sent from heaven

As an ally, an able ally, a loyal ally.

Sapling grew to an enormous tree,

Strongly rooted in "Service above self".

Profuse leaves form a vast canopy

Provide shade and shelter

Perennially to those who suffer.

The numerous branches nest budding Specialists, hatch in the revered tree and fly To all corners when they take wings

Scatter the values to every nook and cranny.

The great trio left for heavenly abode

Leaving behind a legacy beyond admire

The majestic tree still holds

Fort weathering all nasty storms.
