The Corrupted Lady of Justice

By Achinthya Prathish

There stands a statue of a woman in the midst of the courtroom

Her one hand carrying scales

And the other, carrying a mighty sword

And her eyes, unfolded by the powerful

If you look closely, you can see that;

Her eyes are completely black

For she is blinded

By the power of injustice and corruption

Her sword left a trail of bright blood and woes

Tracing back to the corpses of those who seeked justice

For the fire in their souls were extinguished

By the evil kings and queens of their nation

She stands there

And conducts law

She can clearly see the victims and the perpetrators

Yet, she turns blind eyes to the oppressed

She stands there with a slight smirk

When she sees the powerful bow down infront of her

And sacrifices their people to her whose blood are bright red

So that the mighty can unleash their desires behind the curtain of justice
